If you’ve been to Kyoto or just scrolled through someone else's trip, you’ve probably seen it: the minimalist white cups, the crisp % logo, the queues that wrap around the block. %Arabica needs no introduction. Their flagship store in Arashiyama is a pilgrimage for coffee lovers, perched over the Katsura River with views of the Togetsukyo Bridge. It’s a moment as much as a morning brew.
Now, they’re opening in Bondi.

Set to take over a corner site on Hall St and Campbell Parade, just across from the beach, %Arabica Bondi will be the brand’s 224th location globally and their first in Australia. The Kyoto-born roastery has become a quiet icon around the world, blending high-end beans with equally considered interiors. Clean lines. Slow pours. Ridiculous queues.
I’ve been to their Arashiyama store twice. Both times the line was over 200 people, so I had to pass.
With a coffee scene as strong as Sydney’s, it’ll be interesting to see how Arabica lands—but one thing’s certain: there will be a line.
